Have you ever found yourself standing in front of the injection supplies wondering which is the right gauge needle and how long should it be?
Hopefully, this little guide will help...
subcutaneous injections (0.5ml-2.0ml per injection):
1-3ml syringe,
25G 5/8" needle (for avg adult)
25-27G 1/2" needle (for infant, child, elderly or thin pt)
intramuscular injections (up to 5ml per injection):
3-5ml syringe,
20-25G 1"-3" needle (length depends on particular pt)
intradermal injections (up to 0.5ml per injection):
tuberculin syringe,
26 or 27G 1/2"-5/8" needle
