SJDeltaRNstudents12/06

I went to Sutter's Pinning Ceremony last June and they did some really neat things that I thought I could pass on to you all.
  • They had a family member or someone special to them come up to the stage to do their actual pinning. It was fun to see people's spouses, children, parents, and other important people to them.
  • They each wrote a short blurb expressing their appreciation to whomever helped get them through nursing school and someone read each one over the microphone as they were walking up to get pinned
  • They had a program with each of their photos with the blurb from above plus a big group photo on the cover.
  • They had a slide show plus a really funny video that mocked the learning videos we watched in skills labs and each student had a part. It was really funny and the audience really enjoyed that.

I don't know if anyone is interested in any of these ideas or even how to proceed if people want to include any of the ideas. I just wanted to let you all know that it was a very special ceremony and very personalized and kept the audience's attention.

Thanks for reading...let me know what you think.

Sounds very cool, but did they have as many people as we will have?

It does sound really neat. I have a feeling that we will be extremely time limited because of our class size and sharing the moment with the psych and CNA classes.
I would love to see if it is possible to do the bulletins up with all of our picures and comments as well as a group photo. That would make a most excellent keepsake.

Sac State students have a current RN pin them for their pinning ceremonies-they each pick someone to pin them.

I like the idea of having someone close to us do the pinning...i think it's very personal and special. But, yep, we gotta think of time issues and if ms. neville will approve it. And, also we need to know what the rest of the class wants. I think someone should bring this up during N10. Not everyone checks the blog and plus we'll get more input that way. I also love the program idea -- that would be cool! :)
