Has anyone taken their Boards yet?

I am still waiting to hear from the State (since my speech teacher didn't post my grade until 2 weeks into Jan which means that I will probably be one of the last ones who gets to take the NCLEX), so I was wondering who has taken their test already and what was it like.
I would love to hear all about it and I know that others would too. Here is a sampling of questions that inquiring minds would love to ask.

When did you take your test?
What testing facility did you use?
How soon did you know if you passed?
Did you take an NCLEX prep course?
How was the testing environment? (noisy, cold, warm, distracting, perfect, crowded, etc.)
What made you feel comfortable and confident?
Which preparation strategies worked for you and which ones did not?
What made you feel nervous?
Was there anything really surprising or unexpected?
How many questions did you get? (optional)
How do all of the practice test formats that we have used throughout the program compare with the actual test?
How were the breaks?
Were you able to get a snack or a drink?
Were you allowed to bring anything inside, like a purse, car keys, cell phone, etc?
What did you do the night before?
What did you do after the test (go home and cry from stress relief, party, go on vacation, kick the cat, make contact with family members for the first time in 2 years)?
If you could do anything over again, or prepare in a different way, what would it be?

I don not have any advice on how to study for that crazy test. It is very random. I only have one cat and he has had his share of kicks otherwise he might get some today. Do not take any study materials to the center , but they give you a locker for your personal items. Everyone that I know of has had just the 75 questions. The fromat looks just like the CD from the Davis book.

I took mine Saturday the 20th @9am..
I took it in Roseville, and we just found out that our official transcripts got sent last week but it takes the board 2-3 weeks to process them so instead of finding out in 48-72hrs like we're supposed to, it's going to take longer!
I took the Hurst Review course online and signed up to test after I felt like I could teach the entire course.
The testing environment was okay-wear a sweater and take the earplugs-I didn't want to hear anyone typing or anything so I was oblivious to anyone but myself, my noteboard and the computer until I was done after 75 questions
-I think you're going to be nervous anyway you prepare since it's a nerve wracking experience but if you're prepared you'll be fine.
I got 75 questions before it shut off
-I didn't take any breaks
-I used some other prep for sample test taking and they definitely helped, it wasn't like any test from school or ATI.
-You can get a snack or drink if you bring it and put it in your locker (I didn't)
-You can't bring anything inside except your sweater, your locker key and your drivers license or i.d. and you get fingerprinted before you enter the testing room and each time you leave/re-enter
-I watched tv the night before and scanned all my material real quickly but just tried to relax
-I shopped w/ my xmas gift cards afterwards
-I don't know if I would prepare differently-I studied for 3 weeks 8-10hr days w/ a half day off each week, and got to know the material really well so I could teach it...
-my biggest advice: DON'T TAKE STUDY MATERIAL W/ YOU THAT MORNING BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T KNOW IT YET YOU WON'T EVER KNOW IT! It was sad to watch some people try to cram material in their cars right before...

Don't worry Bonnie-I went down to the BRN and they have a huge stack of people to process now...I was worried about mine b/c I didn't get it until the 12th...I talked to the woman who enters all the input and I just happened to be near the top..They are sooooo slow. You'll get it soon. Make sure you register w/ pearson vue so you're ready to go when they put you through! Good luck

When did you take your test?
I took mine today at 9 a.m. in Roseville

How soon did you know if you passed?
Don't know yet!

Did you take an NCLEX prep course?
ATI tests on line, did the SF review and the school review.

How was the testing environment? There was around 12-15 people in the room, some typing was going on, but that did not bother me at all, they offer earplugs before you go in. Don't bring you own, you can't use them, they also give you Kleenex if you need it.

What made you feel comfortable and confident?
I went to Roseville the night before and got a motel room, had a good dinner (Outback Steak House), and read awhile and then went to bed and got a good night's sleep.

Which preparation strategies worked for you and which ones did not?
I did not spend a lot of time studying, I did some practice questions about every other day. Mostly I had a cold and rested. You know the material, why drive yourself crazy?

What made you feel nervous?
Its the NCLEX!

Was there anything really surprising or unexpected?
In some ways the questions seemed easier than I had expected. The ones on ATI, review courses and disks all seemed more complex and harder. These were straight forward but had ambiguous answers.

How many questions did you get? 75

How do all of the practice test formats that we have used throughout the program compare with the actual test?
The practice material was, in my opinion, harder than the real thing. Perhaps this is a good thing!

How were the breaks?
Don't know, never made it to one, was in and out in an hour.

Were you able to get a snack or a drink?
Yes, I could have if needed. The designated breaks don't count against your time, any others do. You need to take the food and drink in with you when you go and put it in your locker. Don't take anything in but your ID, your ATT, your car keys, and food or drink. Don't wear any watches or braclets either. Be prepared to be fingerprinted and photographed. You will be finger printed at the front desk and before you go into the test room. You will be fingerprinted any time you come out of the test room and IDd with your photo ID. And the same will happen when you go back in too.

Were you allowed to bring anything inside, like a purse, car keys, cell phone, etc?
You can take all that into the office and put it in the locker, but I recommend you leave it all in your car or at home, take the minimum needed!

What did you do the night before?
Read a book and slept.

What did you do after the test (go home and cry from stress relief, party, go on vacation, kick the cat, make contact with family members for the first time in 2 years)?
Drove home, called family and friends and answered this email.

If you could do anything over again, or prepare in a different way, what would it be?
Nothing different!
