NEED HELP FROM ALL OF YOU!!

I need help from all of you for the Welcoming Reception for the new students. You do not have to be part of the committee or even attend meetings. All you have to do is e-mail me ideas of what you think should be included. The more ideas we have the better we can make this. The number one thing I need is ideas on where to get money for food and drinks. The second thing is who all should we invite to give presentations. What would have helped you more and what did help you at the one put on for us? Don't be shy, speak up and send ideas. I will keep all of you posted along the way. And eveyone needs to thank Barry for doing the invite for us.

I agree with Delayne. I think that if can get donations that would be best because I am not sure how many people would be available to participate in fundraisers. If I remember correctly, at our Welcoming Tea, Krispy Kreme donated donuts. We could try maybe Subway, Mountain Mike's Pizza (or any pizza place) to see if they would be willing to donate food. And grocery stores or Longs/Walgreens for drinks. These are just thoughts off the top of my head. If I think of anything else I will post. Thanks.

How about taking the new N1 students around the campus, after the reception and give them a tour of the college. This would require 8 students from our class to be tour guides.
We should ask the hospitals send a brochure of their facility to have at the tables for each of their clinical students.
We should hand out the hours of operation for the cafetria, bookstore, computer lab, tutor centor, library etc.
We need to urge them to get a computer if they do not have one, and emphasize the importance of using them, for the computer shy students.
We should have financial aid information present. This is my 4th year, and if I hadn't overheard a conversation during our study skills class, I still probably would not have checked into it, because I thought that I was not qualified for anything, and I had never heard of the Stafford loan program.

What do you all think about starting a new tradition where not only do we welcome in the new class, but we also give them a name, pick out a mascot character, appoint them an encouraging or funny class song, class quote, class colors, and have them perform some kind of initiation competency such as deep breathe and cough. We could give them some class stationery samples which we design for them, with the above mentioned stuff and graduation date posted on it, which they can copy and send out to all of their family and friends to remind them of the fact that they will not see them for a couple of years. We could put white nurses hats on their heads and take individual digital pictures for their class picture files, so that they can compare their before (confidantly smiling but ignorant)pictures, with their graduation pictures(fashionable gray streaked hair, new wrinkles, nervous smiles, and paler skin).

I think some of that would be a bit beyond our capacity right now. We have no money and not much time either. We do need to have a meeting and set up a time for the Reception.
