Example of a Letter to the Trustees

I hope that you don't mind my posting your letter Debbie, but you said it just right. This is a good example of how to write to the Board of Trustees.

To the members of the Board,

It was with great dismay that I learned today of the planned termination of two instructors for the Nursing Program, Lisa Parinella and Sonia Flanders. I believe that the goal of the Board is to have the best nursing program possible, however, terminating two instructors who have given freely of their time and knowledge seems to be at odds with this goal. As a nursing student I have first hand experience with both of these instructors and can tell you that without their assistance and encouragement many students would have had a far more difficult time passing their classes. If the goal of the college is to hire and maintain the best instructors then the termination of the these instructors is not in the best interests of the present and future students at Delta. I would hope that the members of the Board will realize that the loss of these instructors would have a detrimental effect on the nursing program and will take steps to retain both of them. Thank you for you attention to this matter,

Deborah M. Vogel, Student Nurse
