SU SALUD HEALTH FAIR

SATURDAY – SEPTEMBER 24, 2005

1. Wear your blue student uniform. You may also wear your lab coat.
2. Volunteers are requested to be at the site by 9 am for orientation. Those who have signed up for the 12-4 pm time will arrive at noon.
3. Please bring at least one blue or black ink pen and your stethoscope.
4. Please look for Debra Lewis when you arrive to sign in and complete the waiver form.
5. I would suggest you bring a snack and water. There will be food available later in the afternoon. Be sure that you bring a snack that either does not need refrigeration or is in a very small ice chest.
6. We will be using a room inside the child development center for height/weight, BP assessment and blood draws. There will be tables set up outside (under shade trees) to provide follow-up teaching/counseling for clients with any abnormal assessments. Students who have completed or are currently enrolled in Nursing 6 will assist with
immunizations. We will also be directing clients to the appropriate site or any necessary MD assessments.

7. The event will be held at 333 Mathews Road at the migrant camp.

DUE TO LACK OF PARKING SPACES VOLUNTEERS WILL PARK
in the employee parking lot on the south side San Joaquin General Hospital. There will be signs directing you to the correct parking lot. A bus will be circulating every 10-15 minutes to pick up volunteers and drop them off at the
event site. The bus should begin running by 8:30 am. A cell phone number will be posted at this site by Thursday, 9/22 which you can use to call if the bus does not show up to transport you to the event site. It is suggested that you car pool to the event.

The Delta College students provide all the client assessments, except dental screening, for the event. Without your assistance, it would not be possible to hold this event. Your willingness to give up a Saturday is greatly appreciated by Dr. Vicuna and the nursing program director and faculty.
